The Dates is one of those books that makes me self-reflect, ponder many questions and how I would react to a certain situations. The book is over 400 pages however I would encourage you to not let that deter you from reading it. It is a novel that is very loosely based on an experience that the author had. The Dates deals with choices that we make, chance encounters, focusing your energy on what matters to you, your life’s legacy, and the impact that we unknowingly have on others.
There were nights that I was up until 2AM reading this book; sometimes laughing and other times with tears in my eyes. It is a touching book that left me with a feeling of wanting to do more with my life, considering all the many blessings I have had over the years. I am being very careful with my wording because I do not want to give details of the book away, this is one of the best books I have read in a long time – it is a book of substance.
I had the opportunity to meet the author, Bill Reamer, he and his wife came to my church for a book discussion; lovely people. He gave us insight on the characters in the book, their journeys, and process he took to create the book. He also clued us in on a secret, there is a sequel to The Dates that should be on the shelves by the end of November 2014.
This is a must read book, on a scale of 1-5, I give it a 5! To learn more about the book and the author, you can visit Bill Reamer’s website: http://www.moreisexpected.com/
