Are You Investing In Your Reality or Someone Else’s

I was sitting on the couch mindlessly watching yet another reality TV show when it hit me – why am I investing in someone else’s reality. Earlier in the day I was reading The Wealth Choice by Dr. Dennis Kimbro, in the book it talks about the choices that those making 7 figure incomes make.  One of the choices made by the wealthy is they chose to invest in themselves.  Reality TV is how the cast on those shows earn their income but as I sat there helping them earn their income, I am not maximizing my ability to earn mine.  Each time I choose to do something other than empower, uplift and educate myself, I am not walking in my God-given destiny of wealth and prosperity. Shut-Up and Just Do Something

Have you ever wanted to say to someone ‘shut-up and just do something’.  We have all felt a since of stagnation at one point or another in our lives; a feeling of running in place or unsure of what to do.  During those times of feeling stuck, what happens next is more important then the feeling of being stuck…. the next should be what are you doing to get unstuck.   Folks get so content with just talking but not moving.  We all know someone that can talk about what they are going to do but never do a darn thing, I consider this being stagnant.  Dictionary.com defines stagnation as failure to develop, progress, or advance.  Continue reading

The Pig (DC)

The next time you are in Washington, DC you have to visit The Pig.  Can you guess that this menu is filled with all things pork, yes it serves other dishes besides pork but why would you visit a restaurant named The Pig to have something other than pork!   Prior to my visit to DC I researched restaurants that I wanted to visit via Yelp and this place was at the top of my list.  On Fridays they offer 3 courses for $15 lunch option in addition to their regular lunch menu.  The price fix lunch is a set 3 courses, no menu options to select from.  One word to describe the service, quality of dinning, and overall experience…..excellent! What The Wizard of Oz Taught Me

The Wizard of Oz is one my favorite childhood movies, I looked forward to watching it every year around Thanksgiving.  I loved how at the end Dorothy and Toto were reunited with their family and that her 3 travel companions had their wishes granted by the Great Oz. As a child that was all that I saw, nothing beyond the surface of the storyline.  But that changed when I watched it again, this time I was in my 30s. Anthony’s Creative Italian Cuisine (NJ)

Yesterday I went to one of my favorite restaurants for lunch, Anthony’s Creative Italian Cuisine, located in Haddon Heights, NJ.    Anthony’s provides price fixed menus for lunch and dinner as well as their normal a la carte menu. The menu options for the fixed menu is numerous and the portions are ample, some establishments that have fixed menu pricing give tasting menu portions with limited options to choose from. Traveling Solo

I took the train for a wonderful me day in New York City see to Motown – The Musical on Broadway.   I took the train from my favorite station, NJ Transit’s Hamilton Station.

My solo travel gear normally consist of snacks, water, mace pepper spray, my iPod nano and my Kindle Fire.  I don’t believe that traveling has to be an expensive undertaking so to avoid the cost associated with buying snacks I pack some goodies from home.  One can never be to careful for their safety so I pack my pepper spray for my protection.  I enjoy my train rides which consist of people watching, looking out the window, and also reading my Kindle.  One note: I make sure that I am well rested the day of the trip so that I do not fall asleep on the train; safety first. SoHo New York -Part I

My love and I did a day trip to SoHo section of New York City, a relaxing go with the flow day.   Of all my visits to New York, this was by far was the least expensive trip, I couldn’t believe that for 2 people we spent under $120 which included round trip train tickets for 2, lunch, libations and museum tour. Visualization – Part I

A couple of weeks ago my friend Janice and I visited Franklin Hill Vineyards, we rode past several beautiful homes, I have done before so that was nothing new for me.  On this particular day we drove past a street with the street sign Fawn Lane, of course I got excited.  I had to have a picture of that street sign, so we pulled over.  As I stood there waiting for Janice to take the picture I looked around and saw all these beautiful homes on Fawn Lane, it felt like destiny, like I was supposed to be there. Moving Beyond Regrets

We all have things in our lives that we regret, wish we had done differently or wish a situation turned out differently.  If you have no regrets, good for you – move to the next post in my blog!  I have regrets, some are as a result of actions that took place over 20 years ago but the pain of some of those regrets are still very fresh.

I have been trying to move beyond my regrets because I know that in some ways they are holding me back, it is occupying space within me that could be taken up by something more joyful.  I was never quite clear on how to move past them, admittedly I didn’t try to hard to figure it out because unconsciously I believe a part of me started to feel comfortable in the pity parties that came with my regrets.

One day I got tired of the mental baggage that came with my regrets, it was an all of a sudden moment.  I woke one morning and said that it has to be more to my life besides my past mistakes, I asked myself the question – how do I get past them?  The answer for me was simple: Acknowledge It, Forgive It, and Move Past It. The Dates

The Dates is one of those books that makes me self-reflect, ponder many questions and how I would react to a certain situations.   The book is over 400 pages however I would encourage you to not let that deter you from reading it.  It is a novel that is very loosely based on an experience that the author had.  The Dates deals with choices that we make, chance encounters, focusing your energy on what matters to you, your life’s legacy, and the impact that we unknowingly have on others.
