Two of my favorite sweet wines are produced by Franklin Hill Vineyards; Sir Walter’s Red & Catawba. This is vineyards has several wines that come a very close second, to many to list them all. The wines are all reasonably priced, averaging between $10 – $12.
The vineyard is less than a 2 hour drive from Northeast Philadelphia, a nice scenic drive. The staff at the vineyard are very friendly and knowledgeable, on occasion they have even provided me with great recipes on how to incorporate the wines into various deserts. The vineyard offers complimentary wine tastings (up to 6 wines) and tour (set times of the day). Once you finish your tasting and make your purchase, you can purchase a glass of wine to enjoy on their relaxing patio and there is even a picnic area, feel free to bring tastings to accompany your glass of wine.
The tasting room also provides a number of items to purchase including: various dips, wine related novelty items, wine accessories, stemware and apparel.
The vineyard is owned by Ms. Elaine Pivinski, a brief history of it can be found by viewing this YouTube video: A Taste of the Trails – Franklin Hills Vineyards
